Missing Him

It's hardest at night. Henley spent most every evening beside one of us on the loveseat or sofa. Then when we'd retire to the bedroom and start to lower the shades, he'd hear the noise and amble back to the bedroom. If we were too slow, he'd stand there impatiently waiting for his bed to be spread out. As soon as that happened, he'd get the covers just right, lay down, and release an "ummpphh" of a satisfied Dane.

We both loved that sound.

I just saw your post on Freecycle about finding a new dog and don't have a suggestion for you but wanted to tell you how sorry I am for you. We lost our yellow lab last month after 14 beautiful years so I know what you are feeling. tears came to my eyes as I just read your post about the evenings, it was pretty much the same at our house. We miss her terribly. I wish I could tell you it gets easier but it hasn't for us yet. I hope you find some comfort in a new pet. Good Luck to you!
